Terms of Use

The terms that apply when you download, purchase, or use Rulr and its website.

Last updated: September 15, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Rulr, including the Rulr app, website, Rule Gallery, and related services.

By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using Rulr, you agree to these Terms.

1. License

Rulr is licensed, not sold.

Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Rulr for personal or professional purposes.

You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, modify, or commercially exploit Rulr except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law or where you have received prior written permission from Rulr.

2. Free and Pro Versions

Rulr is available with Free and Pro capabilities.

The Free version provides access to a substantial set of Rulr features without requiring the purchase of a license.

Rulr Pro unlocks additional triggers, actions, integrations, and other advanced capabilities.

The exact features included in Free and Pro may evolve over time as Rulr is improved. Features may also be modified where reasonably necessary for compatibility, security, reliability, maintenance, or continued product development.

3. Rulr Pro License

Rulr Pro is offered as a one-time purchase for the version of Rulr available at the time of purchase.

A Rulr Pro license may be activated on up to three devices for use by the license holder. Activation limits may be enforced to prevent unauthorized sharing or abuse.

A one-time purchase is not a subscription and does not require recurring payment for continued use of the purchased license.

A Rulr Pro purchase does not guarantee that every future major version, separately released product, or substantially new product offering will be provided without additional charge. Any future upgrade policy will be communicated before such an upgrade is offered.

Rulr may require license activation or validation. Purchasing a license does not remove requirements imposed by macOS, third-party applications, external services, hardware, or other dependencies needed by particular features.

4. Purchases and Payments

Rulr Pro purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record.

Payment processing, taxes, invoices, fraud prevention, chargebacks, refunds, and related transaction services may therefore be handled by Lemon Squeezy and are also subject to Lemon Squeezy’s applicable terms and policies.

Prices may change for future purchases. A price change does not create a new recurring charge for an existing one-time license.

5. Refund Policy

Rulr Pro purchases are eligible for a full refund within 30 days of the original purchase date.

To request a refund, contact support@rulr.app with sufficient information to identify your purchase.

Refunds are processed through Lemon Squeezy and may take additional time to appear depending on your payment method and financial institution.

After 30 days, purchases are generally no longer eligible for a voluntary refund, except where otherwise required by applicable law or applicable payment-provider obligations.

Rulr reserves the right to refuse or limit refund requests involving fraud, abuse, repeated purchases and refunds, or other misuse of the refund policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

6. Rules and Automations

Rulr allows you to create and run automations that react to events, evaluate conditions, and perform actions on your Mac.

Depending on how a Rule is configured, Rulr may interact with applications, windows, files, folders, selected text, clipboard content, screen or window content, browsers, system settings, input devices, scripts, websites, other Rules, and other parts of your Mac or connected services.

You are responsible for reviewing and configuring your Rules appropriately before running or enabling them.

Automation can produce unintended results if a Rule is configured incorrectly, if its environment changes, if a third-party application behaves unexpectedly, or if an action produces a result different from what you intended.

Like any software, Rulr may contain errors or behave unexpectedly. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rulr is not liable for loss, corruption, disclosure, alteration, or other adverse effects involving data, files, applications, devices, accounts, or workflows arising from the use or malfunction of Rulr or any Rule. Users should maintain current backups of important data and take appropriate safeguards whenever Rules may access sensitive information or affect critical files, applications, or system settings.

7. Scripts and Advanced Actions

Rulr may allow Rules to execute or interact with Shell scripts, AppleScript, Shortcuts, browser JavaScript, simulated keyboard or mouse input, file operations, downloads, and other advanced system functionality.

These capabilities can perform powerful operations on your Mac.

You are responsible for scripts, commands, Rules, URLs, files, and other instructions that you create, import, configure, or choose to execute through Rulr.

You should review scripts and Rules before running them, particularly when they come from external sources or can modify files, execute commands, access websites, communicate with other applications, or require sensitive system permissions.

Rulr is not responsible for harmful, destructive, unlawful, or unintended behavior caused by third-party scripts, content, services, or automations configured by the user, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

8. System Permissions

Certain Rulr features depend on macOS permissions, including Accessibility, Screen Recording, and Automation / Apple Events.

These permissions may allow Rulr to interact with sensitive parts of your Mac in order to perform the Rules you configure. Depending on the feature, this may include interacting with applications and windows, retrieving selected text, accessing visible screen or window content, capturing screenshots, performing OCR, simulating keyboard or mouse input, or controlling supported applications.

You decide whether to grant these permissions and can revoke them through macOS System Settings. If a required permission is denied, revoked, or unavailable, the relevant Rule or feature may not function correctly.

Purchasing Rulr Pro does not guarantee access to functionality that depends on macOS permissions, compatible hardware, third-party software, external services, or other requirements outside Rulr’s control.

Rulr’s handling of information accessed through these permissions is described in the Rulr Privacy Policy.

9. Rule Gallery

The Rulr Rule Gallery provides Rules created and curated by Rulr that you can browse, preview, and import.

Gallery Rules are provided as ready-to-use automations, starting points, and examples. You are responsible for reviewing a Rule and any required permissions, configuration, scripts, paths, applications, or other dependencies before enabling or running it on your Mac.

Some Gallery Rules may work as provided, while others may require customization for your particular Mac, applications, files, environment, or workflow.

Rulr may add, modify, replace, or remove Gallery Rules over time.

10. Third-Party Apps and Services

Rulr may interact with third-party applications, websites, browsers, services, APIs, scripts, or operating-system functionality.

Rulr does not control these third parties and cannot guarantee their continued availability, compatibility, behavior, security, or functionality.

Changes made by Apple or another third party may cause a Rulr feature or Rule to stop working or behave differently.

Your use of third-party products and services remains subject to their respective terms and policies.

11. Updates and Compatibility

Rulr may receive updates containing new features, improvements, compatibility changes, security updates, or bug fixes.

Rulr does not guarantee perpetual compatibility with every macOS version, Mac model, third-party application, website, browser, API, or external service.

Features may occasionally need to be changed, replaced, or discontinued because of operating-system changes, third-party restrictions, security concerns, technical limitations, or product development decisions.

Rulr may change its minimum supported macOS version over time.

12. Acceptable Use

You may not use Rulr to violate applicable law, interfere with systems or services you are not authorized to access, distribute malicious software, bypass access controls without authorization, or intentionally harm other people, devices, accounts, or data.

You may not share, resell, redistribute, or otherwise provide your Rulr Pro license to others in violation of these Terms.

13. Intellectual Property

Rulr, including its software, website, branding, visual design, documentation, and original Rule Gallery content, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Except for the limited license granted under these Terms, no ownership rights in Rulr are transferred to you.

Rules and other content that you create yourself remain yours, subject to any rights associated with third-party content or services you choose to incorporate.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rulr is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory.

Rulr does not guarantee that every Rule will execute without interruption or error, that Rulr will remain compatible with every third-party application or future version of macOS, or that every automation will produce the result you expect.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rulr will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, business, or productivity arising from or related to your use of or inability to use Rulr.

Because Rulr can perform automated actions on your Mac, you are responsible for evaluating Rules before running them and maintaining appropriate backups where an automation could affect important data.

Where liability cannot legally be excluded, these Terms limit liability only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

16. Termination

You may stop using Rulr and uninstall the app at any time.

Rulr may suspend or terminate a license or access to related services where there is reasonable evidence of license abuse, unauthorized redistribution, fraud, malicious use, or a material violation of these Terms.

Termination for misuse does not affect rights that applicable law requires to remain available to you.

17. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated as Rulr evolves.

Material changes will be reflected by publishing an updated version on the Rulr website with a revised “Last updated” date.

Changes to these Terms will not retroactively convert an existing one-time Rulr Pro purchase into a recurring subscription.

18. Applicable Law and Consumer Rights

Your use of Rulr and any purchase of Rulr Pro remain subject to applicable laws and mandatory consumer protection rights.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or override rights that cannot legally be waived under the laws applicable to you.

19. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, licensing, purchases, or refunds, contact support@rulr.app.
